Back to Observing Reports Selected Observing Notes from August 2010 at IHOP Observed on August 07, 2010 Evening started with clouds, but cleared within an hour after sunset as expected, but the transparency was off a bit as expected. Continuing on my flat galaxy survey based on my guide. And notes are pretty much straight out of my notebook, just like the other ORs.

(22” at 184, 230 and 328x) – Considerably faint thin glow, even surface brightness, defined edges, no central brightening. PA = 75 and 1.9’ long. A mag 11.2 star lies 1’ NNE from the center. A bunch of NGC’s lies nearby. I peeked at NGC 5717 (bright 2:1 elongated glow with a brighter center. Diffuse edges. PA = 45 and 0.4’ long), NGC 5722 (considerably bright round glow with a brighter center. 0.2’ across) and NGC 5721 (considerably faint, very small round glow. Much brighter center. 0.1’ across) |
